Definition of Global Education:
Global education is a way of approaching educational practices and topics to create students who are thoughtful critical thinkers with skills to tackle 21st century problems. Through Global Education, students learn global competencies, which include Investigating the World, Recognizing Perspectives, Communicating Ideas, and Taking Action. Global Education and Competencies prepare students to be proactive participants in today's changing world. Rationale and Purpose for this Guide: This guide serves as a jumping off point for teachers interested in implementing Global Education into their classrooms and curriculums. This guide was made to assist in implementing Global Education in my school in Washington, DC, but can also be extrapolated for any teachers with a willingness and desire to create global citizens. Below are snapshots of the best way to utilize this guide. |
How to Use This Guide
This guide is divided into 4 pages: one to explain who I am, and then 3 which discuss different facets of my own Global Education experience, and resources for teachers who want to start their own Global Education journey.
StudyThis section includes documents and resources that I used to study and evaluate Global Education for my own purposes. They will also help any teacher interested in learning more about Global Education themselves.

TeachThis section is for teachers who are ready to jump feet-first into Global Education! Here, you'll find lesson units, standards based updates, and opportunities and resources for teachers for their classrooms and personal journeys.
|
TravelThis section is to explain things that I personally learned from my studies and International Field Experience in Senegal and highlight my blog I wrote while abroad... and also hopefully to inspire more teachers to start teaching, living, and breathing Global Education!
